SCAGO Sickle Cell Disease Summit 2026

August 14–15, 2026 | Toronto, Ontario

The Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario (SCAGO) invites clinicians, researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, community organizations, students, and individuals with lived experience to submit abstracts for presentation at the 6th Annual SCAGO Sickle Cell Disease Summit 2026.

This two-day, in-person Summit brings together patients, families, clinicians, researchers, and system leaders to share knowledge, strengthen care, and drive meaningful change across the sickle cell journey.

Presentation Format

All accepted abstracts will be presented in person as:

Oral Presentations

Presentation: 10 minutes
Q&A: 2 minutes

Poster Presentations

Presentation: 5 minutes
Authors must be present during assigned sessions

Preparing an Abstract for Submission

Please review the following requirements carefully before submitting:

  • Abstracts must be written in English.
  • Maximum word count: 250 words (excluding title, authors, and affiliations).
  • Abstracts must include the following sections:
    • Background
    • Objectives
    • Methods
    • Results or Expected Findings
    • Conclusion or Relevance
  • Abstracts must be submitted through the official submission portal (link to be provided).
  • Submissions may include one chart or one table.
  • Previously published work will only be considered if it includes new data, updated analysis, or clear advancements.
  • The presenting author(s) must register for the Summit and be available to present in person during the assigned session.
  • Authors may be listed on multiple abstracts; however, each submission must represent distinct work.
  • All research must meet appropriate ethical standards for human and/or animal studies.
  • The SCAGO reserves the right to decline abstracts that do not meet standards for quality, originality, or ethics.
